Away from here rough cut 3

In this cut we have decided to patch any blank/black spaces in the video with a clip of our lead singer, we don't plan on using these clips in the final product, however we felt we should fill the blank spaces in attempt to make the video less boring whilst waiting for a clip to appear.
We have also changed a few band shots within the video as we feel they are better fitting to the track.

Away from here rough cut 2

This is our second rough cut of our music video. We are now seeing more of a narrative begin to take form, however we are aware that some shots may need editing in order to be better synced with the music.

Away from here rough cut 1

This is our first cut for Away from here. It's still early days but we're beginning to see a narrative develop throughout the video.
We felt it was important to wait until we had some band shots before we posted our rough cut in order to show how we planned to include and shoot the band performance.

Filming Updates

Friday 7th November - Today was our first day of recording our music video. We recorded in a friends home today because we wanted to use an old style TV and arm chair for a couple of our shots and he agreed to let us film there.

The shot to the right shows the protagonist and lead singer (Josh Brison)sat in a arm chair watching TV, which links with the lyrics "It's much easier for me, to stay at home with Richard and Judy".

The TV to the left is supposed to show footage of 'Richard and Judy', however it wasn't available at the time of filming so we've used this shot for the meantime.

Monday 10th November - Today we started shooting our band shots in the college studio. To begin with we took a few practice shots to get used to and become confident with the lip syncing. The practice shots are shown below.

After a five minute warm-up we then moved on to filming the actual clips for the video. At this stage we have only recorded the chorus and shots of the lead singer however we plan to film more in upcoming days.

Wednesday 12th November - Today we caught a train to Middlesbrough to record shots for the chorus to go with the lyrics 'Away from here'.

The shots include a time lapse of the train arriving at the station, another of the protagonist boarding the train and another of some of the journey.

Today we also drove towards Peterlee via the A19 in order to record a time lapse of the traffic again to go with the lyrics 'Away from here'.

Mood Board

Mood board from RobsonBoyd

This is our mood board which shows the different ideas which we feel will make up our music video. We have included conventional things like the guitars and band picture so that we can stick to the convention of the genre. We have included the bar and alcohol because of the lyric 'Saturday is your only highlight when you go out and live the high life' which we interpreted as people drinking alcohol. 'I'm so sick sick sick and tired, of working just to be retired' to go with this lyric we have included the image of the stressed office worker. The image of the train has been used because at the end of the music video we plan to have a shot of the protagonist leaving on a train to go with the lyric 'Away from here'

Shot count- Biffy Clyro - God and satan

I decided to use Biffy Clyro's music video for 'God & Satan' as it is a similar genre to the video which I am planning to construct, therefor it will be useful to find out what is the usual shot count for a video of the same genre.
As you can see in the Youtube video provided above the video runs for a total of 3:25 consisting of a total of 70 different shots.

The majority of shots used throughout the video are close ups of the lead singer Simon Neil singing the lyrics of the song. Another shot which is frequently used through out is a long pan shot of a group of pilgrims walking, which links with the title God & Satan as it plays with the religious aspect of the title ' God & Satan'.
